Gems and Gemology Centre

Proposed Physical Facilities:

The Gems and Gemmology Centre will be located in the Gemstone Market in Peshawar. The Centre will require over 8,000 square feet of space and which are including Administration block, Gemstone Testing Lab, Gemstone Faceting Section, Gemstone Carving Section, Jewellery Designing Section, Display centre and conference room. In addition support facilities for the workers and office staff will also be provided. The whole unit will have state-of-the art security and surveillance system.

The Lapidary Unit will also have its own 50 KVA generator to provide 100 percent power back up. 

Acquisition of Technology

Gem Testing Lab and Lapidary is a highly sophisticated area which has experienced a lot of technological advances during the recent years. It is strongly recommended that technical collaboration may be made for the establishment and operations of the unit. Technology could be obtained from various machinery suppliers of the World.

The Lab and lapidary equipment manufacturers exist in USA, UK, Germany, Sri Lanka, Japan and China etc. Before the Lab and lapidary unit goes into operation, it will be necessary to get the staff trained on all the selected machines. Adequate provision of funds has been made in the capital cost of the Project for training of staff and workers.
